![]() Their ultimate units, the Zenith ships are the pride of the Syndicate Houses, their blast the House Anthem over the battlefield boosting morale and damage. They are the elite, with heritage going back many centuries and they like to show it. Their opulence is reflected in the leader’s dress sense, fondness of expensive accessories and skin tone altering cosmetics. Flamboyant opulence mixed with ruthless trading practices. If there is a real-world culture that resembles this faction most it’s likely the medieval Venetians. They formed a new collective, called the Syndicate ensuring they would never again lose their freedom to do business their way. The Houses continued to practice their business in secret, until the Fall of Star Union created a new opportunity for the survivors. Some submitted and were rewarded with hereditary positions, while others didn’t and fled to the Outworlds. I wonder how you guys tackled it as it seems like a rather hard thing to do right (for instance what if the "big boss" is a mechanical faction like Dvar, and all opponents use Arc or Synthesis loadouts). After power became consolidated in the era of the Imperial Star Union, Territories held by the Houses had to submit to Union control, or face annihilation. ![]() That said two things interest me: like it was mentioned above already - how does AI work with this mode (are we able to coordinate attacks for instance?), and obviously - balancing (is the handicap too big or too small etc, is it configurable etc). It can probably be argumented one way or another (subterfuge, lying game etc), but you actually made something of a game mode to cover this theme of Shakarn being the "invading forces" as naturally they can be made into the "big boss". When I was watching Tom's stream, on a theoretical level I was wondering about how the supposedly "invading" Shakarn play so well with other factions, you know, playing diplomats, making peace-treaties and such. ![]() ![]() An interesting concept that plays on the whole "Invasion" theme. ![]()
